In the "Rajawali"Colombo has called as "Kalanthota"and "Kelanigamthota". The name Colombo has popular after the srilankan amounts by Portuguese in 1505. "Kola aba" is the first name of here. There have a believe about that the mango tree without fruita and only leaves which is situated in the Comisyester street has based on this. According to the portuguese they had hope to give a respect for Colombas by giving the name Colombo. Iban Bathutha and the sea officer Van Tha Yuvan have called this place as Kolanpu and Kalanpu. The name Colombo has popular asa the way foreigners pronounced .The documents in the Portuguese has named Colombo in their documents as Kolahaba , Kolomba and Colahambo.
